With a bright new start to Year 4, children have been enjoying their new Penguin status, waddling their way to success. Our first topic this year is Film. We have been looking into the inventions that have made film possible from Magic lanterns to light-bulbs, from early sound production to the Kinetescope. We have also made our own flickbooks and kinetescopes, animating scenes for an imaginary film poster of our own design.

In Science, we have been looking at light, shadow and the movement of the sun. We've been looking at music from famous films and tried to identify the instruments being played in our music lessons.

This week is the first time the Penguins have had the opportunity to use our new class laptops. Busily typing away, they've been carefully writing up filmscripts for their very own feature film that they will be acting out, filming on Flip cameras and hopefully producing, so long as Mr Watson can work out how to use the computer program first!
