Monday 6th February 2012 – Friday 10th February 2012

As we came to our final week in half term, we came to the end of our topic on The Great Fire of London, but we also had the excitement of the snow.

In Literacy, we used what we had been learning about recounts to write about our snow filled Sunday. We also wrote lots of adjectives to describe the snow and used them to write snow poems with repeating lines. We finished our week of Literacy by learning new spellings of words with “ow” sound in them.

In Numeracy, we worked on collecting information to find answers to different questions. We recorded what we had found out using tally charts, pictograms and bar graphs.  We spent time looking at different  graphs and answering questions about the information that they showed us.

As we came to the end of our topic on The Great Fire Of London, we worked together in small groups to make information posters about what we had learnt.  We made sure that we included information that told people when it happened, how it started, why it spread and how long it lasted for. We really enjoyed having the opportunity to show off everything that we had found out about over the half term.

We finished our week, as always, with Special Mentions. We had one Special Mention this week for an important person who was leaving us to go to another school that was closer to their home. We wanted Joseph to have a Special Mention to say well done for all his hard work and good luck in his new school. We all said good bye and good luck to Miss Donnelly and Miss Long, who were also heading off to new schools. We really enjoyed working with them and felt very lucky that they came to teach us.
