This week the Nursery went on a 'Bear Hunt'. We started the week by using the big book to read the story. Although the children enjoyed joining in with the familiar words none of them mentioned our Christmas 'Baby Hunt'. We used a selection of picture cards to prompt us with the story and these and the big book were available for the children to use all week.

On Monday after reading the story we made some collage pictures of all the different places we passed on our bear hunt. We also changed library books.

On Tuesday our PE session was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. We had planned to change into our PE kits for the first time but sadly that pleasure will have to wait for a while. We did however manage to do some of our PE in the Nursery with the parachute.

Wednesday was the first day for our letters and sounds work. We told a story to introduce the letter 's' and then learned an action to help us remember the sound. Some of the older children in the group now have their own sound books to help them. We will gradually be introducing more during the year. We also made 'super shiny snakes' to jog our memory. If you are interested in finding out how we say our sounds I would suggest using the internet and googling 'Mr Thorne' who is available to help you 24/7.

Thursday the blue group were in charge of snack and baked some lovely butter biscuits for us. As usual they were very tasty.

Friday Mrs Harvey and Mr Ditton took the children outside for wheeled toys, something which all the children look forward to. After snack it was number and alphabet rhymes before special mentions.

Special mentions this week went to our three new children Toby, Samuel and Riley for settling so well in their first week and our star of the week was Edward Howe. Congratulations to all of you.

Next week - Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?
