Assessment week once again – where has the half term gone? We were very excited this week due to the snow! On Friday we were able to showcase our own wake and shake routine to the parents – we hope you enjoyed it, we enjoyed making it! Next week is half term – have a good week. Literacy – We were assessed on our knowledge of letter sounds and names, and every single Duckling has improved their scores – well done! We also revisited all the keywords we have covered so far to check our recognition of them. On Tuesday we did a piece of writing with no help. We also designed our own alien, making a fact sheet about them by drawing a picture of them and writing their name, number of eyes and special features. Numeracy – On Monday we did some special activities to check if we have achieved our numeracy targets. We have been learning about money this week, in particular coins. On Wednesday we were introduced to all the coins, and completed a coin fact sheet for our numeracy books. On Thursday we played ‘what can I buy’, matching coins to items with price labels. On Friday we played money lotto, and had a shop with items that cost in multiples of 2’s as we had been counting in 2’s. PE – We abandoned PE on Monday and instead put on wetsuits and wellies and went outside in the snow, making snowmen and snow angels. Rotation – The red and yellow tables went cooking, and made meteorite cakes. The green and blue tables went to the computer room and competed their snowy day books. Wheeled toys – Another opportunity to go out in the snow. We didn’t get the wheeled toys out, but did explore the snow and how it was different from Monday – on Tuesday it was more icy so we were unable to make snowmen and snow angels. However, we did enjoy making footprints in the snow, and looked how the snow at the bottom was starting to melt a bit. Music – We continued with ‘Brown Bear’s snoring’. Brown Bear was given a tambour, and at the end of the song had to walk around the circle chanting ‘Brown Bear’s choosing, Brown Bear’s choosing, Brown Bear’s choosing you’ while playing a steady beat. All of the children had an opportunity to be Brown Bear. French – We listened to a track called ‘family and names’, and then answered if we have brothers and sisters. Topic – We looked at different space vehicles and their features. We then used Clixi to build our own space vehicles.
Special mentions – Well done to Freddie, Max, Haydn, Becky and Samuel. Also well done to Max and Haydn, who also got their certificates for 50 team points.
