This week we started work for ‘The Little Schools Big Birdwatch’. Our role play area is now the Bird watch hideout, and we have already spotted lots of birds in our outdoor area.

Literacy –
This week we added the sounds j, v and w to our cards. For our literacy sessions we have started to make a bird identifier book. Each day we had a bird of the day, and we had to find that bird in our book, copy it’s name, stick in a picture of it’s favourite food(s) and write the name of the food. So far we have complete blackbird, robin, blue tit, house sparrow and great tit.

Numeracy – On Monday we met the last member of the Number Zoo – Greedy Zero the gorilla. We made our own Greedy Zero for our books, and practised writing the numeral. We had a set of bird cards, and had to put them in numerical order. We also looked at some missing numbers, having to identify the missing digit on number lines.

PE –
Only 1 PE session this week, where we started to learn the moves for our own wake and shake routine.

Rotation – The green and blue tables came to the computer suite, and started to make a snowy day book with pictures and captions. The red and yellow tables went cooking, and made biscuits.

Music – We listened to a story about a magic dove, and then joined in with a song called ‘baak bakum paira’.

French – We listened to some words about family names, and then started to look at Monsieur Perroquet’s book about the same subject.

PSHE – We talked about things that we need, and then how we can help to look after garden birds.

Topic – We made bird food cakes, by mixing lard and bird seed and placing into pots to set. These will be used on our bird table to attract even more birds (fingers crossed)!

Special mentions – Well done to Lucas, Cookie and Harry.
