What a busy week! We had 3 performances of our play ‘Born in a Barn’ – a dress rehearsal to the rest of the school on Monday, and then the real performances on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening. The Ducklings performed superbly – you should all be very proud of yourselves! On Friday we had a new Duckling come and visit us for the morning.

Literacy – We read the Christmas story. On Monday we worked in groups to retell the story using stick puppets. At the end of the week we sequenced images and captions from the story.

Numeracy – We made ‘Santa Star’ decorations. First, we had to cut out a star shape. Then we had to position all the parts by following the clues given, e.g. stick a black square over a point at the bottom of the star.

Topic / art –
We made salt dough decorations to hang at home – on Tuesday we rolled out the dough and cut out our selected shapes, and then on Thursday we painted them and added Christmas sequins.

On Wednesday we made festive fir cone trees – we had to paint glue over a fir cone, which we then sealed in a bag of green glitter and shook – a lot! We then selected 4 pom poms to attach as decorations.

Rotation –
The blue and green tables did part 2 of their special Christmas cooking task. The red and yellow tables decorated a Christmas tree, using the computer programme Dazzle.

PE – On Thursday we created our own dance to the song ‘When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney’ – our favourite part was definitely when Santa goes ‘a-choo, a-choo, a-choo’!

PSHE – We watched a programme about how 2 children celebrate Christmas.

Special mentions – Well done to Nell, Kylen and Poppy-Lu. Also well done to Nell, Poppy-Lu, Courtney, Bailee, Daisy and Julia, who each received their certificate for earning 50 team points.
