For the remaining weeks of term our focus festival is ‘Christmas’. We have made lots of Christmas decorations, both for the classroom and to hang in the hall. On Wednesday our role play area was transformed into ‘Santa’s Workshop’, and we have had Father Christmas, Mother Christmas, Elves and reindeer busy in the classroom! On Thursday we started our advent calendars – who completes them each day is decided by the ‘magic bag’! We have continued to practice ‘Born in a Barn’ throughout the week, and are almost ready for the performances next week.

Literacy –
We wrote a special postcard to Father Christmas, telling him what we would like him to bring for us to open on Christmas day.

Numeracy – This week in the Number Zoo we met Tiger Ten – we coloured our own tiger, added 10 black stripes and 10 whiskers. We also made patterned paper chains, which are hanging in our classroom.

Art –
We made lots of decorations: snowflakes, which we had to paint with white paint and then add glitter and / or sequins (these are hanging in the hall); lanterns, where we had to use scissors to cut along the marked lines; standing Santas, which we had to colour a face, and stick on eyes, gloves, beard and hat ‘fluff’.

Topic –
We have each made a lion calendar, to take home and use for the year 2012.

Special mentions –
Well done to Lucas, Bailee and Eva. Also well done to Becky, Harriet and Freddie, who each received a certificate for earning 50 team points.
