Special mentions this week:

William O – Came to assembly all week.

Bailey – A very focussed week. He worked hard and stayed on task all week.

Koby – For some fantastic literacy work, neat handwriting and a great story about his Christmas holiday.

A New Year and a New Year’s resolution. This week the children have made New Year’s resolutions that they will be sticking to. There are school resolutions and home one’s so you may want to check and see what your child aims to do this year.

We have started Booster Phonics which is a computer programme which is set by assessments to target your child’s phonics weaknesses. The children are really enjoying this so far and are being very proactive in organising their time on the computer.

We are also starting Times tables this week. In the back of your children’s reading logs there is a sheet that indicates what tables your child will be working on. We are all starting on 1 x, a nice easy start. There is a 10 x 10 multiplication square attached too. Ask your child how to read it (they should know) but if you have any questions just ask as I have many different multiplication sheets for learning aids. New targets will be set on Monday and tests on Friday.

Also we will be sending home homework on a Thursday, but it is still due in on Monday. This just gives you and the children a chance to have a work free weekend!
